Celebrating Purpose: World Pathfinder Day's Impact
The Fifteen Mile Seventh-day Adventist Church in Papua New Guinea recently joined the worldwide Adventist community to celebrate World Pathfinder Day (WPD) on September 21, 2025, under the resonant theme "Pathfinders on Purpose." This yearly observance not only highlights the significance of youth in church activities but also underscores their capacity to inspire change within their communities.
Meaningful Community Engagement and Service
More than 45 dedicated Pathfinders and young people participated in community service activities, showcasing their commitment to living out the values of their faith. Their first initiative began at the 15 Mile Police Station, where they engaged in cleanup efforts not only for sanitation but also as a means of fostering goodwill within the community. This action set the stage for a deeply impactful visit to 10 young prisoners.
During these visits, the Pathfinders brought essential food supplies, alongside words of encouragement through song and prayer. They shared Scripture with the inmates, emphasizing God's unyielding love and forgiveness, even in light of past mistakes. This profound message was encapsulated in their promise to welcome these young prisoners into the fellowship of their church upon their release, reinforcing a spirit of community support and accountability.

The church program also fleshed out the biblical story of David, illustrating the message that purpose can be defined irrespective of one's past or age. Minister Sinias Ray shared with the gathered youth, “Just like David, who was selected by God despite being a humble shepherd boy, each one of you has a divine purpose. Remember, your test scores or the opinions of others do not constrain what God has in store for your life.” This comparison aimed to inspire confidence and boldness in the Pathfinders, showing them that they were not just youngsters in a church program, but potential leaders capable of driving change.
